Ewha Ranked Second in the Quality Assessment of Journal Citaiton
According to the latest report from the Korea Research Foundation, Ewha was ranked second in the quality assessment of research papers posted in journals listed in Science Citation Index(SCI). Ewha scored 2.86 in the 'impact factor' category which is slightly behind University of Ulsan(2.95) and was followed by Postech(2.77), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(2.76) and Seoul National University(2.74).
The report ‘2009 Performance Analysis Issue Report : In-depth Analysis Report on University Research Performance in 2007’ analyzed the 'impact factor' of all the research papers of 2007 in the journals in Science Citation Index(SCI), which includes the world`s leading scientific journals. 'Impact factor' is a measure of the citations to science and social science journals. It is frequently used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field.
In addition to this result, Ewha received excellent evaluation from the Korea Research Foundation last year for ranking third in qualitative assessment of journals posted in Science Citation Index and first in the impact factor category among Korean universities. Ji Hyung Cho, the Dean of Research Affairs said, "Ewha has been putting forth its best efforts to improve the quality of the university's research in various fields and to strengthen the university's competitiveness. I believe our efforts have been reflected in the latest analysis of the Korea Research Foundation."
