Min-su Park is an Associate Professor of Chinese History in the Department of Social Studies Education at Ewha Womans University. His research focuses on early modern East Asian history, particularly Qing imperial formation and cross-cultural interactions.
His current monograph project, <The Manchu Way to Beijing>, reexamines the Qing empire-building process and Beijing's transformation into the Manchu capital during the early 17th century. This research makes use of rare Manchu-language sources to provide fresh insights into imperial transition.
Professor Park's expertise also covers the diplomatic relations between the Chosŏn and Qing dynasties, particularly the impact of the Ming–Qing transition on East Asian interstate relations. He combines traditional sinological techniques with multilingual source analysis in his research.
He has received international recognition for his work through appointments as a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of History and Philology at Academia Sinica, a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard-Yenching Institute, and a Visiting Scholar at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He has been awarded the Wu-ho Excellent Research Award by the Society for Asian Historical Studies.
