한국학과, 태국 한국어 교원 방한연수 프로그램 개최

‘태국 한국어 교원 방한연수’ 개회식이 8월 3일(월) ECC에서 개최됐다.
이날 개회식은 본 방한연수의 초석을 놓은 호크마교양대학 이해영 학장의 환영사로 시작됐으며, 이어 국제대학원 박인휘 원장은 여성 교육을 통해 한국 사회의 변화를 이끌어 온 이화의 역사와 교육적 소명을 나누며, 한·태 양국의 든든한 가교가 될 한국어 교육자를 양성하는 이번 방한연수의 뜻깊은 시작을 축하했다. 다음으로 씰라빠껀대학교 씨리낫 씨리랏 교수와 왕립쭐라롱껀대학교 수파펀 분룽 교수의 격려사가 이어졌으며, 본교 한국학과 박선희 교수를 비롯한 관계자들과 현직 및 예비 태국인 한국어 교원들이 참석하여 자리를 빛냈다.
태국은 세계에서 한국어교육 수요가 가장 높은 국가 중 하나로, 2018년 대입 시험(PAT)에 한국어를 제2외국어로 채택한 이래 현재까지 대입 A-Level 시험 과목으로 운영하며 한국어 교육을 지속적으로 확대해 오고 있다. 이에 따라 현지 한국어 교원의 역량 강화와 전문성 함양이 꾸준히 요구되어 왔으며, 태국한국교육원 역시 한국어 교육과 한국 문화에 대한 현지 전문가 양성을 위해 다각도의 지원을 아끼지 않고 있다.
이러한 지원에 힘입어 2021년부터 5년간 태국한국교육원 주최, 이화여자대학교 및 태국 쭐라롱껀대학교 주관으로 ‘태국 현지 초·중등학교 한국어 교원 양성 체계 구축 사업’이 추진되고 있으며, 본 사업의 일환으로 태국 현지 교원 연수 과정과 방한연수 프로그램이 함께 운영되고 있다. 특히 올해는 쭐라롱껀대학교 교원 양성 과정뿐만 아니라 씰라빠껀대학교 KTTC 교사 연수 과정을 거친 우수 참가자들까지 대상을 확대하여 진행됐다.

올해 방한연수는 8월 3일(월)부터 8월 7일(금)까지 4박 5일 일정으로 진행됐으며, 선발된 태국의 현직 및 예비 한국어 교원들이 참가했다. 연수 기간 동안 참가자들은 한국어 이해 및 표현 교육의 실제, 영역별(듣기·말하기·읽기·쓰기) 강의 자료 개발, 태국 한국어 교과서를 활용한 수업 구성 및 시연 등 실무 중심의 교육 프로그램을 이수했다. 이와 함께 한국의 사회·문화 및 문화유산 특강, 사물놀이 국악 체험, 뮤지컬 <점프> 관람 등 다채로운 한국 문화 체험 기회도 마련됐다.
본 사업의 책임자인 한국학과 박선희 교수는 “올해로 5년째를 맞이한 본 연수 프로그램은 그동안 태국 내 한국어 교육 인프라를 확충하는 데 핵심적인 역할을 해왔다. 특히 본교 한국학과를 비롯해 한국어교육 및 한국학 분야의 대학원으로 진학하는 사례가 꾸준히 늘어나고 있다는 점은 이 프로그램의 의미와 가치를 잘 보여준다”라며, “올해는 참가 대상을 한층 넓혀 태국의 현직 및 예비 교원들과 함께하게 된 만큼, 이번 연수가 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 실무 역량을 키우는 뜻깊은 기회가 되기를 기대한다. 연수를 마친 후에도 한국어 교육 현장을 이끌어갈 핵심 인재로 성장하기를 응원한다”라고 소감을 밝혔다.
Department of Korean Studies Holds Korean Language Teacher Training Program for Thai Educators in Korea

The opening ceremony for the “Korean Language Teacher Training Program for Thai Educators in Korea” was held at the ECC on Monday, August 3.
The ceremony began with a welcoming address by Lee HaeYoung, Dean of the College of Scranton Honors, who laid the foundation for this training program. Park InHwi, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies, then shared Ewha’s history and educational mission of bringing about social change in Korea through women’s education and celebrated the meaningful beginning of the training program, which aims to nurture Korean language educators who will serve as strong bridges between Korea and Thailand. Encouragement speeches by Professor SiRinat SiRirat of Silpakorn University and Professor Suphaphan Bunlung of Chulalongkorn University followed. Faculty members and other officials, including Professor Park SeonHee of the Department of Korean Studies, as well as current and prospective Thai Korean language teachers, attended the ceremony.
Thailand is one of the countries with the highest demand for Korean language education in the world. Since Korean was adopted as a second foreign language in the 2018 university entrance examination (PAT), it has continued to be offered as a subject in the A-Level university entrance examination, with Korean language education steadily expanding. Accordingly, there has been an ongoing need to strengthen the capabilities and expertise of Korean language teachers in Thailand. The Korean Education Center in Thailand has also provided multifaceted support to foster local experts in Korean language education and Korean culture.
With this support, the “Project for Establishing a Korean Language Teacher Training System for Thai Primary and Secondary Schools” has been carried out for five years since 2021, hosted by the Korean Education Center in Thailand and jointly organized by Ewha Womans University and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. As part of this project, both local teacher training courses in Thailand and training programs in Korea have been operated. In particular, this year’s program expanded its participants beyond those who completed the teacher training program at Chulalongkorn University to include outstanding participants who completed the KTTC teacher training program at Silpakorn University.

This year’s training program was held over five days and four nights, from Monday, August 3, to Friday, August 7, with selected current and prospective Korean language teachers from Thailand participating. During the program, participants completed practical, field-oriented training covering the practice of Korean language comprehension and expression instruction, development of teaching materials for each language skill—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—and lesson planning and demonstrations using Korean language textbooks used in Thailand. In addition, participants were provided with diverse opportunities to experience Korean culture, including special lectures on Korean society, culture, and cultural heritage, a traditional Korean percussion music experience, and a viewing of the musical Jump.
Professor Park SeonHee of the Department of Korean Studies, who oversees the project, said, “Now in its fifth year, this training program has played a key role in expanding the infrastructure for Korean language education in Thailand. In particular, the steadily increasing number of participants who go on to pursue graduate studies in Korean language education and Korean Studies, including at Ewha, clearly demonstrates the significance and value of this program.” She added, “This year, we have broadened the pool of participants to include current and prospective teachers from Thailand, and I hope this training will serve as a meaningful opportunity for them to develop practical skills that they can apply in the field. I also hope that, after completing the training, they will continue to grow into key professionals who will lead the field of Korean language education.”
